The League

Harry Powell (Robert Mitchum) marries and murders widows for their money, believing he is helping God do away with women who arouse men’s carnal instincts. Arrested for auto theft, he shares a cell with condemned killer Ben Harper (Peter Graves) and tries to get him to reveal the whereabouts of the $10,000 he stole.

Only Ben’s nine-year-old son, John and four-year-old daughter, Pearl know the money is in Pearl’s doll and they have sworn to their father to keep this secret. After Ben is executed, Preacher goes to Cresap’s Landing to court Ben’s widow, Willa (Shelley Winters). He overwhelms her with his Scripture quoting, sermons and hymns, and she agrees to marry him. On their wedding night he tells her they will never have sex because it is sinful. When the depressed, confused, guilty woman catches him trying to force Pearl to reveal the whereabouts of the money, she is resigned to her fate but the children manage to escape downriver, with Preacher following close behind.

Will Kane is a town marshall. It’s his wedding day and his last day as a lawman. He was about to leave town with his new bride to start a new life when some men come to town who tell him that a man he sent to prison some years ago has just been released and is arriving on the noon train.

While Eastman and patrician schoolteacher Elaine Goodale (Paquin) work to improve life for the Indians on the reservation, Senator Dawes lobbies President Grant (Thompson) for more humane treatment, opposing the bellicose stance of General William Tecumseh Sherman (Feore). Hope rises for the Indians in the form of the prophet Wovoka (Studi) and the Ghost Dance - a messianic movement that promises an end of their suffering under the white man. This hope is obliterated after the assassination of Sitting Bull and the massacre of hundreds of Indian men, women and children by the 7th Cavalry at Wounded Knee Creek on Dec. 29, 1890.

The island of Iwo Jima stands between the American military force and the home islands of Japan. But the accolades for heroism heaped upon the three men are at odds with their own personal realizations that thousands of real heroes lie dead on Iwo Jima, and that their own contributions to the fight are only symbolic and not deserving of the singling out they are experiencing. Each of the three must come to terms with the honors, exploitation, and grief that they face simply for being in a photograph.

Description:
The third game in Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series of tactical shooters features an original story line that has Team RAINBOW embarking on a 15mission campaign to protect the world from criminal and terrorist behavior. As in previous installments, players must select up to eight personnel best suited for the task at hand, outfit them with the latest in weapons technology and equipment, then carefully infiltrate various buildings or enemy strongholds to neutralize the threat before it is too late. Players will visit locales set in London, the Caribbean, Rio de Janeiro, Switzerland, and more. For the first time in the series, Ubi Soft Montreal (Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell) takes the reigns over from Red Storm Entertainment for development duties.

Missions in Raven Shield range from protecting a bank to daring hostage rescues, locating a biological weapons cache before the enemy, and defusing bombs in the nick of time. The graphic engine used in Raven Shield is based on Epic Games Inc.'s Unreal technology, which allows for weapons to be viewed onscreen, a first in the Rainbow Six series, and offers more variety in texture detail, background activity, and character animations. A total of 56 weapons and accessories (such as sound suppressors and thermal scopes) are available to outfit teams with, while six dedicated multiplayer maps encourage online competition via LAN or Internet. LAPD Medal of Valor recipient Mike Grasso helped design the tactics employed by the nonplayer characters in the game as well as some of the gadgets and character reactions.
